Auburn, Tuscaloosa mayors continue Iron Bowl wager tradition
November 24 2025
AUBURN, Ala.- This November, Auburn Mayor Ron Anders and Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox will once again place wagers on the Iron Bowl to benefit local charities.
The Auburn Tigers and the Crimson Tide will face off at Jordan-Hare Stadium on Saturday, Nov. 29. If Auburn wins, Maddox will make a $100 donation to the Exceptional Foundation of East Alabama. If Alabama wins, Anders will donate $100 to the Tuscaloosa Pre-K Initiative.
This tradition dates back to 2005 when Former Auburn Mayor Bill Ham and Maddox first made a friendly wager in support of local causes in both communities. Since then, Auburn has won the Iron Bowl seven times, and Alabama has won 13 times.
“I’m excited to continue this spirited rivalry that shines a spotlight or organizations that are truly making a difference in both of our communities,” Anders said. “I wish Mayor Maddox luck, and as always, War Eagle!”
